THE ASSOCIATION PRESENT DAY ACTIVITIES:
The Association has initiated numerous meetings, discussion and seminar affecting the Industry the latest of which is the seminar-workshop on Crew Claims together with INTERMAP.This was held last November 2004. The seminar-workshop discussed current problems and issues on the increasing number of claims by Filipino Seafarers on board ocean going-vessels which nowadays is a serious concern of foreign shipowners.
PAMAS, has been very active in voicing out industry problems and concerns with the different government agencies.
Below were some of the issues:
1.Joint and Solidary Liability of Manning Agents;
2.Maintaining the Filipino Seamen’s cost competitiveness with other crew supplying countries;
3.Amending the POEA Standard Employment Contract;
4.Studying NLRC cases especially those with decision adverse to the interest of the Industry;
5.The Training and Licensing procedure for seafarers
6.Improving the quality of seamen’s education.
Last April 2006, PAMAS together with INTERMAP, established a new and much better Joint Secretariat Office located at 9th Floor of the Marc 2000 Tower, Malate, Manila to serve its members better.
PAMAS was also engaged in fun filled activities (golf tournaments, badminton tournaments, and bowling tournaments) that promoted camaraderie and friendship among its members.
Some of its annual Christmas Parties had themes such as: Blue Denims in 2004, Groovy 70’s in 2005, Black & White at 25 in 2006 and Hawaiian Luau for 2009. All celebrations were memorable experiences for its members.

Various conferences, conventions, forums and seminars were organized and/or jointly-organized with other Industry Associations to raise awareness/ consciousness to the different issues and concerns of the ship-manning industry.

The Outputs of The First Philippine Conference on Crew Claims was personally handed to Chairman Nograles. Further discussions with the Honorable Chairman were held regarding various manning industry concerns.
The immediately acted upon result was: the re-establishment of the electronic raffling of cases (June 1, 2007) which aimed to minimize the alleged rigging in the distribution of cases to the labor arbiters.

II. PRO-ACTIVE APPROACH on INDUSTRY Concerns
Involvement in tripartite consultations and dialogue with different government agencies such as POEA, MARINA, TESDA. These meetings involved the following:
- POEA Standard Employment Contract Revision
- Review of AB Salary Rate
- Different undertakings of MARINA
Initiated and completed NLRC Case Survey which was presented to NLRC Chairman Bitonio. This was participated by different industry associations
PRC Manpower Assistance
Industry Intervention in the Remegio case- SC ruling on 120 days
Active member of the Joint Manning Group (JMG)
Involvement in the review in the Migrant Workers Act
Involvement in the Technical Working Group for the creation of the Rules and Regulations of Maritime Industry Labor Arbitration (MILA)
